This was a great video. Thank you. It was not clear to how to select *which* spokes to tighten once I find when the wheel veers towards the brakepad.

  4. dyschy says:

it helps if u take off the tire and tube when u true it

  5. BicycleTutor says:

For quick adjustments, I think it is ok to leave the tire on as long as the tire is deflated.

you guys are cool cause other bike shops just want too take you money but you actually tell people how to fix them

  7. ILubJDM says:

Is it possible to true a wheel without a spoke wrench?

  8. twaao666 says:

    agreed

  9. VeniVidi says:

+ Best to take the tyre off first before you true, if your spoke ends aren’t recessed like on the wheel in the demo.

Pretty good video on truing for the general recreational cyclist. Thanks for explaining about tightening AND loosening and that it relates to one side of the hub or the other.

I just tried it on my bike and got it out of whack, but kept at it and made it fairly true-ed again. It was a little confusing to figure out which way was tight/loose, but I picked that up from another video. It’s from the view point of looking down (like through the tire at the nipple).

    Thanks.

i dont kno for sure but i think ud wanna tighten the ones on the oposite side of the misalignment but ive only done it once and its been years

  12. prysh001 says:

hey great vid i learned alot
what will happen if the spokes are too lose or too tight ?

  13. Hensta55 says:

how do u re spoke wheels ?

  14. DARKSCOPE001 says:

look up some videos about lacing wheels. but essentialy you need to take the tire, tube, and rim tape off the rim. then there are threaded brass nipples that are inserted into the rim. pull out the damaged spoke and nipple. then go to you local bike shop and have them order you the correct amount and length of spoke you need (dont forget nipples) and relace the damaged spoke into your rim true and your good! HOPE THAT HELPED good luck. and if all else fails take it the lbs they know all

  15. DARKSCOPE001 says:

spokes that are to loose can break off and put extra strain onto properly trued spokes. so its important to make sure your wheel is properly trued and dished otherwise you can break spokes. and spokes that are to tight can pull the wheel out of true and cause other damage to the wheel and possibly your bike

Why didn’t you shoot outside, at night…?

  17. bobbailey111 says:

What if like your rim has a bump in it?
Like moves up and down as well as sideways

  18. pdxktv says:

You might be able to bend it back but there is a good chance you’ll have replace it. Bring it to a good shop and have it scoped out.

  19. bobbailey111 says:

    Cool, thanks for your help.

  20. wakakorichard says:

How badly can a rim be off before you need to replace it

  21. pdxktv says:

I’ve seen an awful bend put back in order through force and spoke tightening – but the wheel was never perfect again. It depends on what you can live with and how far gone the wheel is.

  22. wakakorichard says:

mine just rubs the brake pads and its a pretty new bike

  23. pdxktv says:

Shouldn’t be a problem then. Get a spoke wrench that fits at a bike shop and play around with it. It takes some practice.

  24. wakakorichard says:

    alrighty, thank you
